Lake Placid New York; Heart of the Adirondack Mountains ⎮ EP 6

Ever since Jeremy saw the movie Lake Placid, he was wanted to visit the area. So we used that as an excuse to pack up and head there, plus we love the Adirondack Mountains. One of the unique things that we learned about the Lake is a privatized public lake. Meaning the Lake itself is public, but all the land is privately owned. There is only 1 public boat marina on the entire Lake, and there are less than three dozen boats on the Lake at any 1 time. Lake Placid is home to the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games🏂. If you want to see the area, we highly recommend driving up the Whiteface Memorial Highway. At the time, it cost $20 for the driver and passenger, then an additional $20 for the 3rd person and an additional $10 for 3-8 passengers. You can hike to the summit from the top of the highway. It isn’t long, but it is all uphill, and the entire thing you will be traversing over giants boulders, and some of them can be very slick.
